Who is this for?

Teachers

Quickly calculate final grades for students by inputting their raw assessment scores and applying weights.

Study Abroad

International students can convert their local percentage grades into US 4.0 GPA or Letter grades for applications.

Limitations

Note: Grading scales are approximate.

  • Conversion Logic: We use a standard linear conversion (e.g., 90-100% = 4.0). Some universities use specific curves or different cutoffs.
  • Rounding: Calculations are rounded to 2 decimal places.

Formulas Used

Metric Formula
Simple Percentage (Total Obtained / Total Max) × 100
Weighted Score ∑ (Score% × Weight%) / ∑ Weights
US GPA Conversion Linear mapping (e.g., >90% = 4.0, >80% = 3.0)

Examples

High School Report

Input: Math (85/100), English (42/50).

Total: 127 / 150

Percentage: 84.66% (Grade B)

University Course

Input: Midterm (80% score, 30% weight), Final (90% score, 70% weight).

Calc: (80×0.3) + (90×0.7) = 24 + 63

Final Grade: 87%

FAQ

Multiply the percentage score of each assessment by its weight (in decimal form). Add these numbers together. For example, 90% on a test worth 20% = 18 points.

If your weights are less than 100% (e.g., the semester isn't over), the calculator determines your current grade based only on the work submitted so far by dividing the weighted sum by the total weight.

No. We use a standard US 4.0 scale (A=90-100). However, some universities use a 4.3 scale or have different cutoffs (e.g., A=94-100). Always check your institution's handbook.

Yes, the calculator supports decimal values for both marks obtained and total marks. This ensures precise calculation for exams where half-marks are awarded.
