How to test it

  1. Press masala chai, keep Instagram and press Get hashtags. Three groups appear, with 5 already picked.
  2. Tap tags to add or remove them. Past 5 the counter turns amber, and past Instagram's 30 it turns red.
  3. Switch to Threads. The counter changes to Threads' one-tag limit.

Shared AI: your topic goes to our server and then to Google Gemini or OpenRouter. Identical requests are reused for 1 hour.

Your key is kept in this browser session only and sent straight from your browser to Google or OpenRouter, never to our server. Press Remove my keys when you're done, and don't enter keys on shared devices.

    How this hashtag generator works

    Three kinds of ideas

The AI suggests broad tags many people follow, niche tags for a closer audience, and local tags if you add a place. It doesn't claim to know what's trending; no tool can without each app's data.

    Cleaned before you see them

Spaces and punctuation are removed, duplicates are merged, and spam tags like #follow4follow are dropped, so every chip is ready to paste.

    The right count per platform

A sensible mix is picked for you. The counter shows each platform's recommended number and hard limit, from 1 on Threads to 30 on Instagram.

Check it yourself. Open your browser's developer tools (F12) and choose the Network tab. With the shared AI you'll see one request to our site; with your own key, requests go only to Google or OpenRouter.

How many hashtags to use on each platform

Hashtags help the right people find a post; they don't make a weak post popular. Platforms now rely more on the content itself, so a few accurate tags beat a wall of popular ones. The numbers below follow what each platform recommends or allows.

The suggestions come from an AI language model, not from live platform data, so they show what fits your topic, not post counts. Before using a broad tag, open it in the app to check that recent posts match yours.

    Recommended number of hashtags

    PlatformUseTip
    Instagram3 to 5Up to 30 allowed; Instagram itself suggests 3 to 5.
TikTok3 to 5Mix one broad tag with specific ones.
YouTube3 to 5The first 3 show near the title; more than 60 and YouTube ignores them all.
X1 or 2Extra tags eat into 280 characters.
LinkedIn3 to 5Use professional topic tags.
Facebook1 to 3Hashtags matter less here; keep them few.
Pinterest2 to 5Keywords in the pin description matter more.
Threads1Threads allows one topic tag per post.

    Hashtag mistakes to avoid

Habits that make posts look spammy or reach the wrong people.

    #follow4follow #like4like

Attracts bots, not customers. Platforms may also limit reach.

    30 tags on every post

Looks spammy and dilutes the topic. Pick 3 to 5 that fit.

    #love on a chai recipe

Popular but unrelated tags bring viewers who scroll straight past.

    The same set every day

Repetition can look automated. Match tags to each post.

    Good hashtag habits

    Before posting

    • Open each broad tag in the app and check recent posts match yours.
    • Capitalise each word, like #MasalaChai, so screen readers read it well.
    • Keep tags after the caption, not in the middle of sentences.
    • Create one branded tag and use it every time.

    After posting

    • Check insights for reach from hashtags.
    • Keep the tags that bring real followers or comments.
    • Drop tags that bring only bots.
    • Refresh your niche list every month or two.

    Frequently asked questions

Short answers about trends, counts, languages and your API key.

    Are these trending hashtags?

No tool without access to each platform's data can know what's trending right now, and this one doesn't pretend to. The AI suggests well-known and niche hashtags that fit your topic. Before using a broad tag, tap it on the app to check it's active and matches your post.

How many hashtags should I use?

Fewer than most people think. Instagram allows up to 30 but recommends 3 to 5; X works best with 1 or 2; Threads allows one topic tag per post; LinkedIn and TikTok suit 3 to 5. The counter changes to match the platform you pick.

What's the difference between broad and niche hashtags?

Broad tags like #food are used by millions, so your post is seen briefly. Niche tags like #cuttingchai are used by fewer people who care more about that exact topic. A mix of mostly niche with one or two broad tags usually works best.

    Is the hashtag generator free?

Yes. The shared AI gives every visitor 20 free sets an hour. If it's busy or you need more, add your own Gemini or OpenRouter key and generate within that key's quota.

Can I get hashtags in Hindi or Gujarati?

Yes. Choose the language, and the AI suggests hashtags people actually use in that language, including Latin-script tags where those are more common.

What happens if the shared AI doesn't work?

The tool tries Google Gemini first and OpenRouter second. If both fail, or the hourly limit is reached, it explains why and opens the key panel so you can continue with your own free key.

Is my own API key safe?

Your key is kept in this browser session only and is sent directly from your browser to Google or OpenRouter, never to our server. Press Remove my keys when you're done, and avoid entering keys on shared devices.

    Is what I type saved?

With the shared AI, your topic goes to our server and then to Google Gemini or OpenRouter, and identical requests are reused for 1 hour. Your last 15 sets are saved only in this browser, and Clear all removes them.
