Site Flagged as Dangerous
What it means: Google has detected active indicators of malware, phishing, or other deceptive software.
Action: Do NOT visit the site. If it's your own site, follow the remediation steps below immediately.
Specific Pages or Resources Flagged
What it means: Google may identify particular URLs or resources associated with unsafe content.
Action: Avoid the flagged URLs. Do not assume other pages are safe simply because one page wasn't flagged.
🚨 My Site Is Flagged by Google — What Do I Do?
- Don't panic. Start by identifying and containing the compromise. Verify and access your domain in Google Search Console.
- Check "Security Issues" in Google Search Console. This shows exactly what Google detected — the infected URLs, type of malware, and sample payloads.
- Scan your server files using a malware scanner (Wordfence for WordPress, ClamAV for servers, or your hosting provider's scanner). Look for suspicious PHP files, injected JavaScript, and unfamiliar admin accounts.
- Update everything — CMS core, plugins, themes, PHP version. Outdated software is a common source of website vulnerabilities. Change all admin passwords and database credentials.
- Remove malicious code. Restore from a clean backup from before the hack if available. Inspect files for unexpected injections.
- Request a review. Submit a review request through Google Search Console and wait for Google's review process to complete.
- Monitor closely after cleanup and patch the underlying vulnerability. Consider a web application firewall (Cloudflare, Sucuri).
