What this register maker does, and what it doesn't
✓What it does
- Keeps your registers in one book: sales, purchase, inward, outward, stock and cash book, each on its own sheet, plus expense and blank sheets you can add.
- Works like a spreadsheet: type straight into cells, move with the arrow keys, copy and paste from Excel or Google Sheets, undo, fill down, sort and filter.
- Does the maths: taxable value, CGST, SGST, IGST and totals are formulas, and you can write your own, like =SUM(Sales!P:P).
- Works out your stock: opening + purchase and inward − sales and outward = closing, for every item, with the value and a reorder flag.
- Stays in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. Download a real Excel file with working formulas, a CSV, a PDF or a backup.
✕What it doesn't do
- Replace accounting software. It has no ledgers, GST returns or bank reconciliation. Share the Excel file with your accountant.
- Decide your GST rate or whether a supply is intra-state or inter-state. Check them with your accountant.
- Sync between devices. The book is saved in this browser only. Download a backup often, and import it on another device.

How to keep your registers
Add your business
Open Business and type your name, GSTIN and financial year. Pick a date format and a header colour.
Type your entries
Click a cell and type, or paste rows from Excel. Press Enter to go down and Tab to go right. Dates like 22-10-2026 or 22/10/26 are understood.
Set opening stock
On the Stock sheet, items from your entries appear by themselves. Type the opening stock, minimum level and rate for each.
Change the columns
Open Columns to rename, add, hide, move or delete a column, change its type, or write a formula for every row.
Find and check
Use Find and the dates to filter. Cells with a problem, like a duplicate bill number or a wrong GSTIN, are marked and counted in the status bar.
Download and back up
Download Excel for your accountant, a PDF to print, or a backup file to keep your book safe.
Formulas you can use
Start a cell with = to write a formula. Row 1 is the heading row, so the first entry is row 2, as in Excel. A formula column works on every row and uses column names in square brackets.
| You want | Write |
|---|---|
| Amount in a formula column | ROUND([Qty]*[Rate],2) |
| Total of a column on another sheet | =SUM(Sales!P:P) or =SUM('Cash book'!D2:D200) |
| Sales of one item | =SUMIF(Sales!E:E,"A4 Paper Ream 75 GSM",Sales!G:G) |
| Sales in a date range | =SUMIFS(Sales!P:P,Sales!A:A,">="&DATE(2026,10,1),Sales!A:A,"<="&DATE(2026,10,31)) |
| Running balance | PREV([Balance])+[Receipt]-[Payment] |
| A label from a condition | IF([Qty]>100,"Bulk","") |
Functions: SUM, AVERAGE, MIN, MAX, COUNT, COUNTA, SUMIF, SUMIFS, COUNTIF, COUNTIFS, ROUND, ROUNDUP, ROUNDDOWN, INT, ABS, MOD, IF, IFERROR, AND, OR, NOT, N, TODAY, DATE, YEAR, MONTH, DAY, LEN, UPPER, LOWER, TRIM. PREV is special to this tool and becomes a normal cell reference in the Excel file.
Keyboard shortcuts
Move
Arrow keys, Enter (down), Tab (right), Page Up and Page Down, Ctrl + Home and Ctrl + End.

Just type to replace a cell, or press F2 or double-click to change it. Esc cancels.
Select
Shift + arrow keys or drag with the mouse. Ctrl + A selects the whole sheet. Click a column letter to select the column.

Frequently asked questions
Is this register maker free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no limit on entries and no watermark. Everything runs in your browser, including the Excel, CSV and PDF files.
Where is my data saved?
Only in this browser, on this device. Nothing is uploaded. Clearing your browser data removes the book, so download a backup file often. To move the book to another device, import the backup there.
How is the stock register worked out?
For every item: opening stock + quantities in sheets set to "Adds to stock" (Purchase and Inward) − quantities in sheets set to "Takes from stock" (Sales and Outward) = closing stock. Value is closing stock × rate, and the status says Reorder when the closing stock is at or below the minimum level. Set "Stock as on" to see the stock on an earlier date.
Will goods be counted twice if I enter them in Purchase and Inward?
Yes, if both sheets add to stock. Keep goods with a purchase bill in Purchase, and goods without one (returns, transfers, job work) in Inward. If you enter the same goods in both, open Sheet and set one of them to "No effect on stock".
Can I use formulas like in Excel?
Yes. Start a cell with = and use cell references (row 1 is the heading row), ranges, other sheets (Sales!P:P) and functions such as SUM, SUMIF, SUMIFS, IF, ROUND and DATE. A formula column, like Taxable value = ROUND([Qty]*[Rate],2), works on every row by itself.
Does the Excel file keep the formulas?
Yes. Taxable value, GST, totals, running balances and the stock sums are written as real Excel formulas, with their values, so the file works in Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice. Dates are real dates and the heading row is frozen with filters on.
Can I import my old register from Excel?
Yes. Import an .xlsx or CSV file. Columns are matched by their headings (Qty, Quantity, Item, Product and so on), and headings that don't match become new columns. Each sheet of an Excel file goes into the sheet with the same name, or a new sheet.
Is this a replacement for accounting software or GST returns?
No. It keeps registers and works out totals and stock. It doesn't file GST returns or keep ledgers. Check GST rates and the place of supply with your accountant, and share the Excel file with them.
