How to test it

  1. Type in Post text; the preview updates as you type, with #hashtags in blue.
  2. Delete most of the text so it's short, then pick a Coloured background.
  3. Tick Dark mode, then press Download PNG. The file is 1000 pixels wide.

Everything is drawn in your browser. Photos are never uploaded. Not affiliated with Meta or Facebook.

How this Facebook post generator works

Drawn, not screenshotted

The post is drawn directly onto an image canvas at twice the screen size, so the preview you see is exactly the PNG you download, with sharp text and no blurry screenshot.

Private by design

Photos are read by your browser and never uploaded. There are no outside libraries or image services, so nothing about your post leaves this page.

Made for honest use

A small "Mockup" label is on by default so the image can't be mistaken for a real post. Turn it off for private design work like slides or client previews.

Check it yourself. Open your browser's developer tools (F12) and choose the Network tab, then upload a photo and download the image. No requests are made.

What do you need the post for?

How the image is built

The post is laid out at 500 pixels wide, the width of a post in Facebook's feed on a computer, then drawn at 2x for a 1000-pixel PNG. Long words wrap, line breaks are kept, and hashtags, @mentions and links are coloured.

Photos are cropped from the centre to fit between square and slightly tall, the way feed photos usually appear. Short posts without a photo use larger text, and a coloured background turns them into a centred status card.

Mistakes to avoid

Things that make mockups look wrong or cause real trouble.

A celebrity "announcing" something

Fake quotes from real people can be defamation. Use invented names.

A tiny, blurry screenshot

Download the PNG instead; it's drawn at 2x and stays sharp.

999.9K reactions on a new page

Unrealistic numbers make a mockup look fake to clients.

Long text on a coloured background

Facebook only allows short text there; keep it to one or two lines.

Tips for better mockups

Making it look right

  • Use a square profile picture so the circle crop looks clean.
  • Use a photo at least 1000 pixels wide for a sharp result.
  • Write numbers the way Facebook does: 1.2K, 86, 24.
  • Match dark mode to dark slides or videos.

Using it well

  • Show clients two versions of an ad side by side.
  • Teach students how to spot fake posts with labelled examples.
  • Keep the Mockup label on anything shared publicly.
  • Save the text you used; images aren't stored.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers about privacy, image size and responsible use.

Does this post anything to Facebook?

No. It doesn't connect to Facebook or any account. It draws a picture of a post in your browser, and you download that picture.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Your profile picture and post image are read and drawn by your browser only; nothing is sent to our server. Your text settings are remembered in this browser so you can come back to them, but images are not saved.

Is it legal to make a fake Facebook post?

Making a mockup for design, teaching, a presentation or clearly labelled satire is generally fine. Using one to pretend a real person or brand said something, to mislead people, or to harass someone can break the law and Facebook's rules. Use your own name or an invented one, and keep the Mockup label on when sharing.

Why is there a "Mockup" label on the image?

So nobody mistakes the picture for a real post when it's shared. You can turn it off for private design work, such as a slide or a client preview, but we recommend leaving it on when posting the image publicly.

What size is the downloaded image?

1000 pixels wide (twice the on-screen size) as a PNG, so text stays sharp on phones and in presentations. The height depends on your text and photo.

Does it look exactly like Facebook?

It follows Facebook's familiar post layout in light or dark mode, but it isn't made by or connected to Meta, and it uses no Facebook logos. Fonts and icons can look slightly different on each device.

Can I make a coloured background post?

Yes. When the post has no photo and the text is short (130 characters or fewer), pick a background and the text is shown large and centred, like a status update.

Can I copy the image instead of downloading it?

Yes. Press Copy image to put it on your clipboard, then paste it into a document, chat or design app. If your browser doesn't allow that, use Download instead.
