A new key and a self-signed certificate are made in your browser for this one PDF and then thrown away. Adobe Reader will show the signer's identity as unknown or not trusted; that is expected. For legally recognised signing in India, use a DSC or Aadhaar eSign (see the guide below).
Privacy: your PDF is opened and changed in this browser and is never uploaded. To do this, the page downloads three free open-source libraries (PDF.js, pdf-lib and Forge) from the jsDelivr CDN.

What this signature generator does, and what it doesn't
So you know where a signature image is fine, and where you need something more formal.
✓What it does
- Makes a signature image from your drawing or your typed name in one of 24 handwriting fonts.
- Crops it tightly and exports a transparent PNG, a white PNG, a JPG or, for drawn signatures, a vector SVG.
- Adds a firm block: "For [firm name]" above and your designation below, for business letters and invoices.
- Adds your printed name or a date line if you want them.
- Signs PDFs: place your signature on any page, and optionally add a self-signed digital signature that shows if the PDF is changed later.
- Checks DSC-signed PDFs: who signed, the certificate and its issuer, the signing time, and whether the file changed after signing.
- Runs entirely in your browser. Your name, drawing and PDFs are never uploaded or saved.
✕What it doesn't do
- Create a certified digital signature. In India, the IT Act recognises signatures made with a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) or Aadhaar eSign. A signature image or a self-signed digital signature is neither of these.
- Use your DSC USB token. Browsers don't let websites reach USB tokens. Use the free Adobe Acrobat Reader instead; the steps are below.
- Guarantee acceptance. Many people and companies accept image signatures for everyday documents; banks, courts and government forms often don't.
- Prove who signed. Anyone can copy an image or make a self-signed certificate. For contracts that matter, use a DSC or Aadhaar eSign.
- Check revocation or trust. The PDF checker reads and verifies the signature, but whether a certificate was cancelled, and whether its issuer is trusted, is checked by Adobe Reader.
- Copy someone else's signature. Only create a signature for yourself. Using another person's signature without permission can be forgery.
Which download should you pick?
All of them are cropped to the signature, with a little space around it.

The best choice for most uses. Only the ink is visible, so it sits cleanly on white, coloured or scanned pages in Word, Google Docs and PDF editors.

How to sign a PDF with your DSC USB token
Websites can't use a USB token directly: browsers don't let web pages reach it, for your safety. That's why government portals ask you to install a signer utility. To sign any PDF with your DSC, the free Adobe Acrobat Reader works well.
Install the token driver
Install the driver for your token (for example ePass2003, Proxkey, mToken or Watchdata) from your DSC provider's website, then plug in the token.
Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Reader
Use the free desktop app on Windows or Mac. The browser or mobile versions can't use a USB token.
Choose "Use a certificate"
Go to All tools → Use a certificate → Digitally sign. (In older versions: Tools → Certificates → Digitally Sign.)
Draw the signature box
Drag a rectangle where the signature should appear, usually above your name.
Pick your DSC and sign
Select the certificate with your name, choose how it looks, press Sign, save the file with a new name, and enter the token PIN when asked.
Check it
Open the saved PDF and look at the signature panel, or check it with the "Check a signed PDF" tab above.

Make it look right
For a typed signature, try a few styles and adjust size and slant. For a drawn one, sign big and slowly; press Undo to remove the last stroke.
Pick the ink colour
Black or blue ink look most like a pen signature.
Add firm details if needed
Choose "For a firm" to add the company name above and your designation below. Add a printed name or date under More options.

Frequently asked questions
Is a signature made here legally valid?
It is an image of a signature. Many people and businesses accept image signatures on everyday letters, quotes and invoices, but acceptance is up to the person or office receiving it. In India, the IT Act, 2000 gives formal legal recognition to signatures made with a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) or Aadhaar eSign; banks, courts and government forms often require those or a handwritten signature. Is my signature uploaded or saved?
No. Everything happens in your browser: your name, your drawing and the image are never sent to our server, and the tool does not save them in your browser either. The only thing the page loads from outside is the set of handwriting fonts from Google Fonts.
Can I sign a PDF here with my DSC USB token?
No. Browsers don't allow websites to reach USB tokens, which protects you. Government portals work around this with a signer utility you install. To sign any PDF with your token, use the free Adobe Acrobat Reader: All tools, then Use a certificate, then Digitally sign. The steps are on this page.
How do I check if a PDF's digital signature is valid?
Open the "Check a signed PDF" tab and choose the file. It shows who signed, the certificate and its issuer, the signing time, and whether the PDF changed afterwards, all in your browser. It does not check whether the certificate was revoked or whether the issuer is trusted; Adobe Acrobat Reader checks those when you open the PDF.
What is a self-signed digital signature?
A digital signature made with a certificate you create yourself. It locks the PDF, so any later change shows up in Adobe Reader, but it doesn't prove who you are, because anyone can make one. Adobe Reader will say the signer's identity is unknown. It is not a DSC.
Is my PDF uploaded when I sign or check it?
No. The PDF is opened, signed and checked in your browser. The page only downloads three free open-source libraries (PDF.js, pdf-lib and Forge) from the jsDelivr CDN to do this.
Why use a transparent PNG?

Can I draw my signature on a phone?
Yes. Choose Draw and sign with your finger or a stylus. Turning the phone sideways gives you a wider pad. Sign slowly and press Undo to remove the last stroke.
How do I add a firm name and designation?
Choose "For a firm", type the company name and pick a designation such as Proprietor, Partner, Director or Authorised Signatory. The image then shows "For [firm name]" above your signature and the designation below it, as is common on Indian business documents.
Why is SVG only available for drawn signatures?
A drawn signature is made of lines, which SVG stores as sharp vectors. A typed signature uses a font; in an SVG it would only look right on a computer with that font installed, so it downloads as PNG or JPG instead.
What size should my signature image be for an online form?
Check the form: many ask for a JPG within a size limit in KB, sometimes with exact pixel dimensions. Download the JPG at Standard size; if it is still too big, resize or compress it with an image tool.
