What this tool does
Your signature on the page, exactly where it belongs
Signatures go into the page as clean pictures and dates as real text, so the rest of the PDF stays exactly as it was.
What you can do
- Draw with a mouse, finger or pen, type your name in one of four script styles, or upload a photo of your signature with the white paper removed.
- Add today's date, your name or an Approved, Received, Verified or Paid stamp as real PDF text.
- Give every signature its own place and pages: initials on all pages, the full signature on the last, a second person's on page 3.
- Drag and resize on the page, or use the 9-point grid and an edge margin, then lock each one when it's right.
- Save your signature in this browser and add it to the next file in one click.
What it doesn't do
- Make a DSC (digital signature certificate) signature. That needs your own certificate on a USB token; see the section on DSC below.
- Prove who signed or keep an audit trail. It places your signature; it doesn't check anyone's identity.
- Send the file to other people to sign. Each person can sign their copy here and send it on.
- Stop anyone from editing the signed file. Add a password with Protect PDF if that matters.
How to sign a PDF in four steps
Make each signature once, give it its pages, lock it, save.
Add your PDF
Drop a PDF onto the upload area, or click Select PDF. The first page opens with a drawing box ready in the panel.
Make your signature
- Draw it in the box, or click Type or Upload image.
- Pick blue or black ink and the size.
- Click Text or date for today's date or a stamp.
Place it on its pages
Drag it onto the signature line and drag its corner to resize. Under Pages for this one, choose the page you're on, all pages, the last page or pages you type. Then Lock it.
Example: initials on all pages, full signature on the last page only.
Save and download
Click Save signed PDF. The preview is drawn from the saved file; rename it if you like and download it.

About DSC
Visible signature or DSC: which one do you need?
In India, a DSC (Digital Signature Certificate) is the token-based signature that government portals ask for. This tool makes the other kind.

Need both on one file? Do the visible signatures here first and the DSC last. A DSC seals the file as it is at that moment, so any change afterwards, from this tool or any other, makes PDF readers report it as invalid or altered.
Signing a PDF with your DSC in Adobe Acrobat Reader:
- Plug in your DSC token and make sure its driver is installed (it comes from the token maker or your Certifying Authority).
- Open the PDF in Acrobat Reader, go to All tools, and choose Use a certificate, then Digitally sign.
- Drag a box where the signature should appear, pick your certificate from the list, and enter the token PIN.
- Save it as a new file. Acrobat shows the signature panel; send this file without opening it in any editor.
For filings on the MCA, GST or income tax portals, you usually don't sign a PDF yourself: the portal signs the form with your token through its own signer utility when you submit. Class 2 DSCs stopped being issued from January 1, 2021, so new certificates are Class 3.
Not legal advice: what a document needs depends on the document and who receives it. Some documents, such as a will, can't be signed electronically at all. When it matters, ask the recipient or a professional.

What each option actually does
How signatures are made and saved, in plain terms.
Draw
Strokes get a little thinner when you move fast, like ink. They're kept as lines, so the box can change size without losing them, and saved at four times the box size, trimmed to just the ink.
Type
Four script styles from Google Fonts, loaded only when you choose Type. Your name is saved as a picture, so the PDF needs no font, and names in Gujarati or Hindi use your device's own font.
Upload image
A photo or scan of your signature. Remove the white background turns the paper transparent and keeps the ink's own color. Photos are turned upright and kept to 1600 px on the long side.
Text or date
Written as real PDF text in Helvetica, sharp in print and searchable. Size is in points (72 pt = 1 inch); stamps add a box. Latin letters only; use Type for other scripts.
Size and place
Signature width is in millimetres, the same on every page. Each one sits where you drag it, or at a grid spot the edge margin from the side. Turned and cropped pages are handled, so it lands where you see it.
Saved in this browser
Kept in this browser's storage on this device only, never uploaded. Anyone using the same browser profile can use them, so don't save a signature on a shared or office computer.
When the signature doesn't look right
Identify the problem, then use the matching fix.
A white box around the signature
The uploaded photo or scan has its paper background.
Turn on Remove the white background, or use a transparent PNG.
The signature looks faint or broken
The photo was dim or the pen was light, so parts of the ink faded with the paper.
Take the photo in good light with a dark pen, set opacity to 100%, or draw it instead.
All four typed styles look the same
The script fonts couldn't be loaded from Google Fonts, so your device's font is used.
Check your connection or ad blocker, reload the page, and choose Type again.
"Can't be written with the PDF's built-in font"
Text or date has letters outside the Latin alphabet, such as Gujarati.
Use Type for that text; it's saved as a picture and works with any script.
A page I signed shows "Not signed"
The signature is set to other pages; a new one starts on the page you were on.
Select it and click Only on this page, or type the pages under Pages for this one.
Acrobat now says the DSC is invalid
The file was changed after the DSC was applied, which breaks it.
Start from the copy before the DSC, add signatures here, then apply the DSC last.
A password-protected PDF won't open
Encrypted PDFs can't be changed by the in-browser PDF libraries.
Remove the password with Unlock PDF, then add the unlocked copy.
A signed PDF that's accepted the first time
Habits that keep the signature clear and the file trustworthy.
Use blue or black ink
Dark blue looks hand-signed on screen and prints clearly; black suits scans and copies.
Initial every page of a contract
Small initials on every page show that each page was seen, and make swapped pages easy to spot.
Date it
Add today's date next to the signature when the document has a date line, in the format it asks for.
Check it full size
Open the page full size and zoom to 200% to see that the signature sits on the line, not over printed text.
DSC goes last
If the file also needs a DSC, finish every other change first. A DSC applied earlier breaks when anything changes.
Protect the signed copy
A signature image can be copied from a PDF. Run the result through Protect PDF to block changes and copying before you share it.
Common questions about signing PDFs
If something's not covered here, the troubleshooting section above likely has it.
Is my PDF or my signature uploaded?
No. The PDF is opened and signed in your browser with pdf.js and pdf-lib, and your signature is made on your device. Neither is sent to our server. Only the script fonts for typed signatures are loaded from Google Fonts, and only when you choose Type.
Can I put a different signature on different pages?
Yes. Each signature, date or stamp is its own item with its own place and pages. For example, add your initials on all pages, your full signature on the last page only, and a second person's signature on page 3, then lock each one.
Is this a digital signature (DSC)?
No. It adds a visible e-signature: a picture of your signature, or text such as a date, on the page. A DSC is a certificate from a licensed Certifying Authority, usually on a USB token, that signs the file cryptographically. To add one, sign the file with your token in Adobe Acrobat or the portal's signer utility.
Can I use this for GST, MCA or income tax filings?
Not where a DSC is required. MCA forms, GST filings by companies and LLPs, income tax audit reports and e-tenders ask for a Class 3 DSC, which these portals apply with your token when you submit. Use this tool for documents where a signed copy is accepted.
Is a signature added here legally valid?
For many everyday documents, such as offer letters, quotes and agreements, a signed PDF is commonly accepted when both sides agree. It isn't a certificate-based signature and doesn't prove identity on its own, and some documents can't be signed electronically at all. When it matters, check with the recipient or a professional.
Can I sign a PDF that already has a DSC?
You can, but any change to the file makes the existing DSC show as invalid or altered in PDF readers. Add visible signatures first, then apply the DSC as the very last step.
How do I remove the white background from my signature photo?
Sign on plain white paper with a dark pen, take a photo in good light, and click Upload image. Remove the white background is turned on for photos without transparency; it makes the paper transparent and keeps the ink's own color.
