What this editor does
Change what's there, add what's missing
Click any line of text or image the PDF already has to change it, or add new text, images and shapes on top. Everything else on the page stays as it was.
What you can do
- Retype a line that's already in the PDF, change its size or color, move it or delete it. It keeps the PDF's own font when that font has the letters you type; otherwise it uses Helvetica, Times or Courier and tells you why.
- Move, resize, replace or delete an image that's already in the PDF, such as a logo or a photo.
- Type new text anywhere, in Helvetica, Times or Courier, with size, color and bold. It is saved as real text you can select and search.
- Add a logo, stamp or signature picture (PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF) at its full resolution.
- Highlight lines, draw rectangles, ellipses and lines, or tick and cross boxes on a form.
- Cover a mistake with White-out and type the correction on top.
What it doesn't do
- Reflow paragraphs. Each line is edited on its own, so a longer line runs further across the page instead of pushing the next lines down.
- Edit words inside a scanned page, a form field or some embedded drawings. Cover them with White-out and type over them instead.
- Hide private information for good. White-out covers text on screen and paper, but the covered text is still in the file and can be copied.
- Type Gujarati, Hindi or Chinese letters the PDF doesn't already use. The built-in PDF fonts only cover the Latin alphabet, and the editor names any character it can't draw.
- Undo your changes after download. Keep this tab open until you're done, or keep a copy of the original.
How to edit a PDF in four steps

Add your PDF
Drop a PDF onto the upload area, or click Select PDF. The first page opens for editing and every page is listed below it.
Use Edit under any page to jump to it.
Edit and add
- Click a line of text or an image on the page to change it; the dotted outlines show what can be edited.
- Or pick Text, Image, White-out, Highlight, a shape, Tick or Cross to add something new.
- Drag to move, drag the round handle to resize, and change text, font, color and size in the panel.
Check every page
The page list shows your changes as you go. Open any page full size to check small text before saving.
Lock finished items so you can't move them by accident.
Save and download
Click Save PDF. The preview is drawn from the saved file; rename it if you like and download it.

How your changes are saved
What ends up in the file, in plain numbers.
PDF text you change
If only the words change, the new letters go into the original text instruction in the original font, and text after it on the line stays put. If you move, resize or recolor it, the old line is removed and the new one is written where you put it.
Images
An image in the PDF is moved or resized by changing where it is drawn, so its pixels aren't recompressed. New PNG and JPEG files go in with their original pixels; WebP and GIF become PNG first.
New text and shapes
New text uses the built-in Helvetica, Times or Courier at 4 to 144 pt and wraps at the box width as on screen. Shapes, ticks and crosses are vector, so they stay sharp at any zoom.
Positions
Left, Top, Width and Height are in points (72 pt = 1 inch), measured from the top-left of the page as you see it, including turned and cropped pages.
White-out
A white rectangle drawn over the page. It covers what is under it when viewed or printed; the covered text stays in the file.
The rest of the file
Links, bookmarks, form fields and every line you didn't touch are left as they are. Pages you didn't change aren't rewritten at all.
When something doesn't work as expected
Identify the problem, then use the matching fix.
An item won't move or delete
It is locked; a small lock shows on its corner.
Select it and click Unlock in the panel.
Some words have no dotted outline
They are part of a scanned image, a form field or a drawing, not text on the page.
Cover them with White-out and add new Text on top.
An edited line changed font
PDFs often carry only the letters they use. A new letter that isn't there sends the line to Helvetica, Times or Courier; the panel names the letter.
Use letters already on the page, or pick the closest font and size in the panel.
"Can't be drawn with the PDF fonts"
The text has a character outside the Latin alphabet, such as Gujarati letters, emoji or some symbols.
Remove or replace the character named in the message. For other scripts, add the text as an Image instead.
Covered text can still be copied
White-out covers text visually; it doesn't delete it from the file.
For private details, use a redaction tool or export a new PDF without them.
Highlight hides the text
Its color is dark, or opacity was raised on a dark color.
Pick a light color such as yellow; Highlight multiplies with the page, so dark text stays visible.
An edit went wrong
An item was moved, changed or deleted by mistake.
Use Undo (Ctrl+Z) above the page; Redo (Ctrl+Y) brings it back.
A password-protected PDF won't open
Encrypted PDFs can't be rewritten by the in-browser PDF libraries.
Remove the password with Unlock PDF, then add the unlocked copy.
Clean edits that look like they belong
Habits that make added content blend in and print well.
Edit, don't cover
To fix a word that's already there, click the line and retype it instead of using White-out; the old text really goes and the font usually stays the same.
Place with numbers
For text on form lines, set Top in the panel, then Duplicate and change only Top for the next line.
Lock what's finished
Locked items can't be dragged by accident while you work around them.
Use a transparent PNG for logos
A PNG with a transparent background sits cleanly on the page; a JPEG brings a white box with it.
Check full size before saving
Open each edited page full size and zoom to 200% to check spelling and alignment.
Keep the original
The saved file is a new PDF. Keep the original so you can start again if something needs to change later.

Does this tool upload my PDF to a server?
No. The editing and saving run in your browser with pdf.js and pdf-lib. Your PDF and any images you add are read on your device and are not uploaded to the AllInOneTools server.
Can I change the text that's already in the PDF?
Yes. Every line of text the PDF has gets a dotted outline; click one to retype it, change its size or color, move it or delete it. If only the words change and the PDF's font has every letter you typed, the line keeps that font. Otherwise it switches to Helvetica, Times or Courier and the panel says which letter was missing. Lines don't reflow, and words inside scans or form fields can't be edited this way.
Can I move or replace an image that's in the PDF?
Yes. Click the image to select it, then drag it, drag the round handle to resize it, or use Replace image to put a PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF in its place. Delete takes it out of the page. A picture that fills the whole page, such as a scan, isn't offered, so clicks on the page still reach the text.
Does White-out remove the text underneath?
No. White-out is a white rectangle drawn on top of the page, so the covered text is still in the file and can be copied or found with search. To take a line out of the file, click it and press Delete instead, then search the saved PDF to check.
Why can't I type Gujarati, Hindi or emoji?
New text uses the fonts built into every PDF reader, which only cover the Latin alphabet used by English and Western European languages. A line that's already in the PDF can use its own font, but only with letters that font carries. If a character can't be drawn, the editor names it and won't save until it's removed; you can add such text as an image instead.
Can I undo a change?
Yes. Undo and Redo sit above the page, and Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y work while you edit. The history covers every page of the document until you start over or open another PDF.
Does editing change my original file?
No. Save PDF creates a new file for you to download, and pages you didn't change are kept exactly as they were. Your original file is not changed.
