Screen recorder
Record your screen, a window or a browser tab with sound and your voice, right in the browser. Pause when you need to, take snapshots, then preview and download MP4 or WebM. Nothing is uploaded and there is no watermark.
- No install, no sign-up, no watermark
- Screen sound and microphone together
- The video never leaves your computer
To record a tab's sound, choose a Chrome or Edge tab and tick "Share tab audio" in the picker.

Recordings 0
Recordings are kept in this page's memory on your computer and are lost when the page closes, so download the ones you want. Screen capture needs a desktop browser: Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
How browser screen recording works
Your browser asks what to share, captures it, and encodes the video on your computer.
You choose what is shared
The browser's own picker lets you share the entire screen, one window or a single tab. The page never sees anything you do not pick.
Two kinds of sound
Screen sound comes from the shared tab, or the whole computer on Windows and ChromeOS. Your microphone is separate; when both are on, they are mixed into one track.
Format depends on the browser
Recent Chrome, Edge and Safari can write MP4 (H.264). Others write WebM (VP9 or VP8 with Opus). The list in settings shows what yours can do.
Size per minute
At 1080p and 30 fps, expect up to about 60 MB a minute; 720p is roughly half. Still screens compress far better than moving video.
Which settings to use
Good starting points for common recordings.
| You are recording | Share | Sound | Quality |
|---|---|---|---|
| Software tutorial | One window | Microphone | 1080p, 30 fps |
| Web video or online meeting | A Chrome or Edge tab | Tab sound, plus microphone if you speak | 1080p, 30 fps |
| Bug report for a website | The browser tab | Usually none | 720p, 30 fps (small file) |
| Slides with narration | The presentation window | Microphone | 1080p, 30 fps |
| Game or animation | Entire screen | System sound on Windows | Full resolution, 60 fps |
How to record your screen
Four steps, all in this page.
Set sound and quality
Tick microphone or screen sound, and pick the quality and format if you want to change them.
Choose what to share
Press Start. Your browser asks which screen, window or tab to share, and whether to share its audio.
Record
After a 3-second countdown, recording starts. Pause, resume or take a snapshot any time.
Stop and download
Press Stop, or Stop sharing in the browser bar. Preview the video, name it and download it.

Where your data goes
Nowhere. Your browser captures and encodes the video on your computer, and it stays in this page's memory until you download it or close the page. We never receive your screen, sound or files. Only your settings, such as quality and format, are remembered in this browser. See our privacy policy.
When recording does not go as planned
The six problems people run into most, and what to change.
No sound in the video
Tick Share tab audio in the browser picker, or the microphone here. Macs cannot share whole-computer sound.
Part of the screen is black
Protected video, such as streaming services, records as black. That is the service blocking capture.
Recording stopped by itself
Stop sharing in the browser bar, or closing the shared tab or window, ends the recording.
The file is very large
Choose 720p and 30 fps, or share a window instead of a large screen.
Cannot skip ahead in WebM
Some players cannot seek in browser WebM. Record MP4, or open the file in VLC.
Start does nothing on a phone
Mobile browsers cannot capture the screen. Use the phone's own screen recorder.
Questions about the screen recorder
Is this screen recorder free, with no watermark or time limit?
Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no fixed time limit. The video is held in your computer's memory until you download it, so very long recordings at high quality can run out of memory. For long sessions, record in parts or choose 720p.
Is my recording uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser captures and encodes the video on your computer, and the file stays in this page until you download it. Nothing is sent to our server or anyone else, and recordings are gone when you close the page.
Can I record the sound from my computer?
In Chrome and Edge, choose a browser tab and tick the option to share tab audio to record that tab's sound. Whole-computer sound can be shared only on Windows and ChromeOS. Firefox and Safari do not share screen sound, but your microphone works in every supported browser.
Should I choose MP4 or WebM?
Choose MP4 when your browser offers it: it plays on phones, in WhatsApp and in most editors. Recent Chrome and Edge, and Safari, can record MP4. WebM is the fallback in other browsers; it plays in Chrome and VLC, but some players cannot jump to a point in it, so convert it before editing if needed.
Can I record my screen on a phone?
No. Mobile browsers do not allow websites to capture the screen. Use the screen recorder built into Android (in Quick Settings) or iPhone (in Control Centre) instead.
How do I keep notifications and other windows out of the video?
Share a single window or a browser tab instead of the entire screen, so only that appears. Turn on Do Not Disturb or Focus mode before recording, and close chats and email you do not want to show.
Why is part of my recording black?
Streaming services and some apps block screen capture to protect their content, so their video records as black. It can also happen with hardware acceleration in some games and players. Other windows record normally.
