A small worked example
Keep the remainder. Do not stretch it.
A tiny 7 × 5 px image, split two ways. These are the exact tile sizes the tool produces.

An odd overlap such as 3 px is split as 1 px before the cut and 2 px after it. Overlap never reaches past the edge of the image or the selected area.
How the tiles are made
Cut on whole pixels. Saved one by one.
Nothing is resized: each tile holds exactly the pixels inside its cut lines.

Troubleshooting
Read the plan box before you make the tiles.
Make tiles stays switched off
The plan box says what is wrong with the settings.
- Use whole numbers only.
- Stay within 100 tiles.
- Or press Reset grid & area.
The tiles are not all the same size
The image does not divide evenly by your count or size.
- Counts differ by at most 1 px.
- Pixel size leaves a smaller last tile.
- Crop the image to an exact multiple.
The tiles are much larger than the photo
PNG keeps every pixel without compression.
- Choose JPG for photos.
- Or WebP if it is offered.
- Lower overlap repeats fewer pixels.
The page scrolls while I drag
Area selection is off, so the preview scrolls normally.

- Drag, then press Done selecting.

Before you make the tiles
How do I split an image into equal parts?
Add the image, choose a quick layout or set the number of rows and columns, and check the dashed lines on the preview. Press Make tiles, then download the tiles one by one or all at once with Download ZIP.
How do I make a 3 × 3 grid for Instagram?
Press the 3 × 3 grid button, choose JPG and press Make tiles. Files are named row-1-col-1 to row-3-col-3. Post them in reverse order, starting with row-3-col-3, so the picture lines up on your profile. Keep important text away from tile edges.
How do I split a panorama for a swipe carousel?
Press 3 across, or choose Columns only and set your number of pieces. Each piece is the full height of the photo. For seamless swiping, first crop the panorama so its width is an exact multiple of the slide width you want.
How do I print a large image on several A4 sheets?
Use a grid such as 2 × 2, add an overlap of about 20–40 px and save as PNG. Print every tile on its own sheet at actual size with fit-to-page off, trim the overlap from one side of each joint and tape the sheets together.
What happens when the image does not divide evenly?
With a number of rows or columns, the tiles differ by at most 1 px, and no pixel is lost. With a tile size in pixels, every tile has that size except the last one, which keeps whatever is left. Nothing is stretched or padded.
Can I split only part of the image?
Yes. Press Select an area and drag on the preview, or open Exact area and type X, Y, width and height in pixels. The grid and overlap then apply inside that area only. Use whole image puts it back.
Which formats can I use?
You can add JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, BMP, GIF, HEIC and self-contained SVG images up to 20 MB and 20 MP. Tiles are saved as JPG, PNG or WebP when the browser supports it. JPG photos default to JPG tiles; PNG keeps transparency.
How many tiles can I make?
Up to 100 tiles, with no more than 60 MP of tiles in total including overlap and 96 MB of files. Tiles are made one after another; Stop keeps the ones already finished.
Can I reuse my grid settings later?
Yes. Under Saved setups, press Save this setup to keep the grid, format, file pattern and area in this browser, with a small reminder picture. Up to six are kept. A saved area is used only for an image of the same size.
Is my image sent to a server?
No. The image is cut and saved in this browser, and the ZIP is built here too. Only a HEIC photo that the browser cannot open loads a decoder from jsDelivr, without your image. After you leave, only your Appearance choice and any setup you saved stay in this browser.
