How to Play Ludo
From first roll to final standings in six steps
From Ancient Pachisi
to Your Browser.
Ludo descends from the Indian game Pachisi, played for centuries on cloth boards with cowrie shells as dice. The modern patented version appeared in England in 1896 and quickly spread across the world, becoming a household staple from Europe to South Asia.
The rules are a perfect balance of luck and nerve: the dice decide your options, but you decide which token takes the risk. Do you race your leader home, free a new token, or hunt an opponent's exposed piece?
Our version keeps every classic rule — safe stars, the three-six forfeit, exact finishes — and adds computer opponents, sound effects and voice announcements so the table never goes quiet. No downloads, no accounts, just the race.
