GIF to PDF Converter — combine GIFs into one PDF with predictable page sizing
Upload, reorder by drag and drop, choose how each page should fit your images, and download a single combined PDF.
An animated GIF contributes its first frame only. PDF documents are static pages and cannot render frame animations. If you need a specific frame, export that frame before converting.

How image sizing and conversion work
Understand how dimensions are calculated and how GIF files are converted to PDF pages.
What this tool does
- Uses a consistent 96 PPI pixel-density reference for "Center (original size)" mode rather than point units.
- Applies an automatic scaling safeguard in Center mode if an image exceeds the printable margins.
- Lets you drag to reorder GIFs with live thumbnail previews before building the document.
- Adds as many files as possible up to the 20-file limit, reporting any files that could not be added.
What it doesn't do
- Does not preserve animation playback — PDF pages are static, so only the first frame is rendered.
- Does not accept non-GIF formats — JPG, PNG, and WebP files should be converted with the Image to PDF tool.
- "Original size" is an approximation — GIF files do not embed physical DPI metadata, so screen-pixel density is used.

Recommended applications and tool selection
Choose the right workflow depending on your file types and output needs.
| Use case | Expected Output | Recommended Approach |
|---|---|---|
| Combining static GIF graphics into a PDF | Each GIF renders as an individual PDF page with user-defined margins. | Use this converter |
| Extracting a static keyframe from an animated GIF | The first frame is captured cleanly as a static image in the PDF. | Use this converter |
| Archiving GIF screenshots into a document | Scales proportionally to fit standard A4 or Letter print areas. | Use this converter |
| Preserving multi-frame GIF animation | PDF specifications do not support looping frame animations. | Use MP4 / WebM format |
| Converting JPG, PNG, or WebP images | This tool only processes GIF image files. | Use Image to PDF |
How physical image scaling is computed
Translating pixel dimensions into millimeters requires a defined pixel density and page-boundary rules.
Pixel values need a physical reference
An 800×600 GIF consists solely of pixel coordinates. Converting pixels to millimeters on paper requires an assumed pixel density (PPI). Selecting an inaccurate density changes the physical print dimensions proportionally.
Differentiating PDF points from screen pixels
PDF documents use 72 points per inch as an internal typographic unit, whereas web graphics are traditionally rendered relative to 96 pixels per inch. Treating 72 as pixel density scales images roughly 33% larger than their standard display scale.
96 PPI reference with page-fit guard
96 pixels per inch is used here as a consistent screen-pixel reference. In addition, if an image at 96 PPI would exceed the printable margins of your chosen page format, the converter automatically scales it down proportionally to prevent clipping.
Troubleshooting common conversion questions
Common GIF-to-PDF questions, their technical causes, and recommended solutions.
Animated GIF appears static in PDF
PDF pages are static vector/raster documents that cannot render multi-frame animated sequences.
Expected behavior. To use a specific frame, export that frame as a standalone image before converting.
File was skipped during selection
Only files with valid GIF MIME types or .gif extensions are accepted by this converter.
Verify the file format. For PNG/JPG images, use the general Image to PDF converter.
Only some selected files loaded
The batch reached the maximum allowable limit of 20 images per conversion.
Convert the first batch of 20 files, then upload the remaining files in a second batch.
Image scaled down in Center mode
The computed physical size of the image exceeded the page printable margins.
Intentional safety constraint to avoid edge clipping. Use "Fit" to scale explicitly.
Animated GIF is static
Cause: PDF pages cannot render animated frame sequences.
Solution: Expected behavior. Export desired frame as a standalone image prior to upload.
File skipped
Cause: File is not a GIF format.
Solution: Use Image to PDF for JPG/PNG files.
Only partial batch added
Cause: 20-file maximum per document reached.
Solution: Convert current batch and create a second document for the rest.
Image scaled down in Center
Cause: Auto-scaled to keep contents within printable margins.
Solution: Use "Fit" mode for proportional full-page scaling.
GIF to PDF best practices
Use these settings when you want predictable page layout and image placement.
Use "Fit" mode for general documents
Preserves original aspect ratios while scaling images to fit comfortably within page margins.
Reorder cards before converting
Drag the thumbnail preview cards into your intended reading order before generating the PDF.
Align page orientation
Select landscape orientation for wide images and portrait for taller graphics to maximize page area.
Select animation frames in advance
Because only the first frame is converted, save any specific desired frame prior to conversion.
GIF to PDF FAQs
Answers to common questions about file support, sizing, and security.
What happens to an animated GIF's animation?
Only its first frame appears in the PDF. PDF pages are static and cannot display animated frame sequences. If you need a specific frame to appear in the PDF, export that frame as an image before converting.
What does "Center (original size)" actually do?
It calculates physical dimensions using a consistent 96 PPI screen-density reference. If the image dimensions exceed the printable area of the page, the converter automatically scales it down to keep it within margins.
Is there a limit on how many GIFs I can convert?
You can combine up to 20 GIF files per PDF document. When selecting more than 20, files up to the limit are added and you are notified about any remaining files.
Is it safe to convert private GIF files here?
Yes. The conversion process is executed client-side inside your browser tab using JavaScript. Your files are not uploaded to any external server.
